For those who opt for air travel, the nearest airport to Coorg is Mangalore International Airport, positioned approximately 160 kilometers away. Once you land at the airport, you can opt for a taxi or a pre-booked private transfer to reach this hill station comfortably.

Well we decided to begin the day with a visit to the breathtaking Abbey Falls. The misty morning added a touch of enchantment as we stood mesmerizing by the sight of the cascading waters amidst lush greenery. When it comes to exploring the best places to visit in Coorg, Abbey Falls undoubtedly stands out as a natural gem that captivates visitors with its sheer beauty. 

Exploring Coffee Plantations

Coorg is famous for its coffee plantations, and no visit to this region is complete without immersing oneself in the aroma and beauty of these plantations. So, it is impossible to miss out the chance to immerse ourselves in the aromatic world of coffee. With the help of our homestay staff, we went on a guided tour through one of the plantations. The highlight of the tour was sipping freshly brewed coffee while enjoying the stunning views of rolling hills blanketed with green coffee bushes.

Dubare Elephant Camp is one of the best places to visit in Coorg where you can feed, bathe and play with these giant creatures up close. One of the best times was our kids playing and bathing with the elephants at Dubare Elephant Camp. Leaving the camp, we carried memories of the tusked cuties, their playful splashes, and the joyous moments shared with them.

Trekking in Coorg’s Hills

Coorg’s hilly terrain provides ample opportunities for adventure seekers and families. As the day was drawing to a close, we embarked on a thrilling trek to Tadiandamol, which is the highest peak in Coorg. The breathtaking views of the valleys and hills left us in awe. The tranquility of the surroundings and the crisp mountain air rejuvenated our senses, making the trek an unforgettable experience.

Trying out Best Food in Coorg

To delve into Coorg’s culinary delights is like embarking on a tantalizing journey of flavors and aromas. The Coorgi pork curries infused with local spices was on the top of my Coorg food list. The Kodagu cuisine is a tantalizing blend of flavors and from which we tried a steaming plate of Akki roti and Kachumpuli curry.

By the evening, we visited the Raja’s Seat, a scenic garden known for its breathtaking sunset views. As the sun dipped below the horizon, no one could help but feel grateful for the serene beauty we had experienced throughout the journey. After the entire day in Coorg, we realized how this enchanting destination had left an indelible mark on our heart.

Its natural beauty, serene atmosphere, and cultural richness had made for an unforgettable experience. The hill station had effortlessly blended adventure, tranquility, and cultural exploration into a single day, leaving us with cherished memories that will linger for a lifetime.
